About the Artist

Peter Haines Sculptor (1942-2024)

"It's a surprise to hold my own hand, to shake it, to feel the girth of it."

Peter Haines was an American artist whose work is a sculptural anthology of form, medium, and identity. After serving in the Marines during the Vietnam War, Haines went to school to receive his MBA from Harvard University (1971). After realizing his passion for art, Haines returned to school and received a diploma from the School of Fine Art in Boston, Massachusetts (1974).

Haines became a founding member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery and a co-founder of the Vermont Gentlemen’s Foundry. Haines drew inspiration from simple shapes to create intricate, thought-provoking forms that explore themes of identity, nature, and human experience.
