About the Artist

John Pai Sculptor (b.1937)

“I don't see wire- I see line, how the line moves. It's very similar to music...what is the next note?”

John Pai, born in Seoul, Korea, is an American sculptor whose work challenges the conventional boundaries of what art is thought to be, and not be.

Pai received his MFA from Pratt Institute in 1964. A year later, he became the youngest appointed professor at Pratt Institute.

His work is showcased in major institutions worldwide, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea and the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul. Pai utilizes metal to shape his forms into captivating representations of movement and space in time.
